The practice

What Is Group Therapy?

The Beekeeper House is a leading, award-winning residential mental health and addiction treatment centre in Thailand, welcoming clients worldwide. Group therapy is an integral part of treatment here, run daily alongside individual psychotherapy, and led throughout by our clinical team. It brings clients together to share experience, build connection, and support one another’s recovery in a structured, clinically facilitated setting.

Group therapy brings a small number of clients together with a facilitator from our clinical team to work through shared challenges in a structured, supportive setting. Hearing from others who are facing similar difficulties, and being heard in turn, can be a powerful part of recovery: one person supporting another, one person listening to another, builds a kind of connection that individual therapy alone does not provide.

Within the group, clients learn to navigate and regulate a wide range of emotions, including anger, loneliness, self-doubt, and anxiety, while developing interpersonal skills such as communication, active listening, and empathy that carry over into relationships outside treatment. Groups run daily, alongside your individual sessions, and are always facilitated by a trained member of our clinical team.

Your weekly programme

Our Group Therapy Formats

Your weekly programme includes several different types of group, each with a different clinical focus:

Psychoeducation group

Led by our clinical psychologists, this group provides structured insight into mental health and addiction, the conditions you may be navigating, and the coping strategies and evidence-based approaches that support recovery, giving you a clearer understanding of your own treatment as it progresses.

Holistic group

Integrates mindfulness, breathwork, yoga, and Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE), alongside reflective and philosophy-based discussion, supporting inner steadiness and the mind-body connection as part of sustained healing.

Relapse prevention group

Focused on identifying personal triggers and early warning signs, building practical coping mechanisms, and developing an individual relapse prevention strategy and support network to carry with you beyond treatment.

International clients

Rehab in Thailand for International Clients

Most of the people we treat travel to us from overseas, and we have built dedicated support around that journey. Choosing to travel for treatment puts helpful distance between you and the environment linked to your symptoms, and it gives you access to accredited, international-standard care.

Our admissions team guides you through every step, from the initial consultation and clinical assessment, which take place by phone or video before you travel, through to travel, arrival, and settling in. Australian clients may also be able to access their superannuation early to fund treatment on medical grounds. To learn more about treatment from your part of the world, see the pages below for clients from the United Kingdom, Australia, and the United States.
